The most recent issue of CSA News, a magazine published by the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America, profiles the use of drone technology in agricultural research.
Dr. Bruno Basso, Associate Professor in MSU's Dept. of Geology and at the Kellogg Biological Station, uses drone technology for field scouting as part of MSU's Global Water Initiative. The article discusses Dr. Basso's research using an automated quadcopter equipped with three sensors to measure plant height, hydration and temperature.
