Bassett Lake is an oligo-mesotrophic lake (TP 13 µg/L) with a public access.

The lake has a semi developed shoreline. The surface area is 18.8 ha and the maximal depth is 11.6 m. The lake is dimictic with a steep shoreline and a relatively large proportion of the lake volume is below the summer thermocline. The vertical light attenuation coefficient of 0.54 which corresponds to that hypolimnion is depleted in oxygen in summer. Common planktonic cladocerans in summer are Daphnia dentifera and D. pulicaria and D. retrocurva. The main planktivores are bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus) and Perca flavescens, large mouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) is the main piscivore.
