Kara L. Haas joined the Kellogg Biological Station team as Environmental Education Coordinator for the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary in October 2009 and moved in to the Science Education & Outreach Coordinator role in 2014.  Kara has a B.S. in Biology from Hope College and Master's in the Practice of Teaching: Early Childhood Education from Western Michigan University.  Kara is interested in improving teacher professional development to use the outdoors as a classroom to teach science, language arts and math.  She works to coordinate the outreach educators based across KBS to work toward strategic goals of educating the public about research themes such as climate change, aquatic ecology and sustainable agriculture.  When not at work Kara enjoys cooking, gardening and traveling with her family.
