History & Partners

Jr. Audubon Club began in 2007 with the support and ideas of the Kalamazoo Nature Center and Audubon Society of Kalamazoo.  In 2010 the partner organizations grew to include W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary and Battle Creek Brigham Audubon.

All of the partner organizations have an interest in encouraging families to spend more time outside and are using the exciting activity of looking for birds  ("birding"), as a club theme.

Jr. Audubon of Kalamazoo, Calhoun & Barry Counties was a monthly club for 3rd-12th graders (age 8-17) and their families focused on exploring the exciting world of birds!

Jr. Audubon Club met once a month at different locations and focused on bird identification skills and learning more about the natural world.  An exciting part of the programming was discovering new places to explore throughout Barry, Calhoun and Kalamazoo Counties.
