Update, March 24, 2020: We’re sorry to announce that the summer 2020 REU program at KBS has been canceled. We will share any other updates on KBS summer programs as we receive them.

Though it can be difficult to visualize in February, when snow blankets the ground and temperatures struggle to rise above the freezing mark, summer is coming!
Undergraduate students who want to learn more about research or aspire to careers in ecology, evolutionary biology or biofuels sustainability use these short days of winter to craft their applications to a trio of summer programs offered by KBS: undergraduate research apprenticeships, or URA; research experiences for undergraduates, or REU; and internships.
All programs include a stipend and a full room-and-board award at KBS; applications are due March 1, 2020.
A summer spent living, learning and working at KBS allows students to step out of their comfort zones, grow personally and professionally, nurture existing interests, discover new passions and in some cases, visit Michigan for the first time.
Generous donors make possible these students’ scholarly and professional goals through the support of KBS scholarship funds. And each July, supporters, friends, family and the general public are invited to listen to KBS summer undergraduates describe their research projects at an annual symposium.
MSU undergraduates also can take select summer courses at KBS. Students can commute or stay on site; housing scholarships are available based on eligibility!
