Generous donations help Kellogg Bird Sanctuary motor on

11.17.21 Stories and blog posts

Providing excellent care for the W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary’s resident birds and the grounds they call home can require some heavy lifting. Thanks to the donation of an electric golf cart by the Greenfield family, Sanctuary staff has a little more pep in their steps.

A green golf cart donated to the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, with the bed filled with wood chips, is parked near the Sanctuary's bird blind, with Wintergreen Lake visible in the background. The 2002 Club Car previously belonged to Ken and Linda Greenfield. Ken bought the cart for Linda in 2012 to help her better access the trails and enjoy the forest on their property.

Linda passed away in 2019. After Ken’s passing in 2020, their son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Tiffany and family decided to donate the cart to the Sanctuary.

“They would both be so happy that the golf cart was being put to good use on Sanctuary grounds,” said Tiffany.

Accelerating good

Visitors to the Sanctuary may see the new cart in action—helping staff to more easily haul mulch to improve walking paths, move equipment and feed, or just to reduce the use of gasoline-powered vehicles.

We thank the Greenfields and everyone else who supports the Sanctuary through donations or membership!
