The American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific society, has announced its 2021 fellows, and KBS researcher Bruno Basso has been named to the list.
Basso, MSU Foundation Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science, joins nine other Spartan scientists in the 2021 cohort, representing leaders in myriad fields including molecular biology, statistics and probability, and agronomy.

The AAAS Fellows designation dates back to the 1870s and is a lifetime honor, This year, some 560 new fellows from around the world will join the ranks of a group described by AAAS as “a distinguished cadre of scientists, engineers and innovators who have been recognized for their achievements across disciplines including research, teaching, and technology; administration in academia, industry and government; and excellence in communicating and interpreting science to the public.”
