About
The first chat of 2023, set for Wednesday, Jan. 11, will feature guest Kristy Taylor, education and outreach coordinator for the Michigan State Bird Observatory, who will talk about birding and mindfulness. We’ll share ways to look at birding from a perspective of mindfulness, using your time outdoors to create a sense of peace, focus and enjoyment.
The February chat, set for Wednesday, Feb. 8, will feature Elliot Nelson, Michigan State University Extension Michigan Sea Grant Educator. He’ll be focusing on gulls that have been spotted in Michigan, or who call Michigan home, including: Herring, Ring-billed, Bonaparte’s, Great Black-backed, and Glaucous gulls.
The March chat will take place Wednesday, March 9. Audubon Society of Kalamazoo President Donna Keller will highlight Kalamazoo County Birding hotspots, including the Kleinstuck Preserve, Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, and Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery, and will chat about a few birds to look for during spring migration.
Birds and Coffee chats are free and open to the public, but registration is required to access information on how to join the events.
