Bird lovers can choose their own adventures with the W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary’s annual Field Ornithology course, which returns as a hybrid series with multiple ways to participate.
The basics

6 to 7 p.m. on select Wednesdays; March 29 and April 5, 12, 19 and 26 for online sessions
8 to 11 a.m. on April 1 and 29, both Saturdays, for the field trips - Audience: Adults

About
The course will consist of five online lectures and two Saturday field trips. Participants can register for lectures only, field trips only, or for all seven dates. Local bird expert and photographer Josh Haas from Hawks on the Wing and Sanctuary Manager Lisa Duke will co-lead the course. People age 14 and older of all skill levels are welcome to join and improve their bird watching and identification skills.
The online portion of the course will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on a series of Wednesdays; March 29 and April 5, 12, 19 and 26. The field trips, which will meet at or near the Bird Sanctuary, are set for 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 and 29.

- April 5: Wintergreen Lake livestream for waterfowl and more
- April 12: Shorebirds
- April 19: Raptors in flight with focus on flight adaptation
- April 26: Warblers with focus on bird song
