Kellogg Experimental Forest volunteer training
People interested in volunteering to assist the W.K. Kellogg Experimental Forest with maple syrup production are invited to an in-person training from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, in the Kellogg Forest Classroom. The training will include a tour of the sugar shack, Maple Manor, and sugar bush. Volunteer duties —such as checking and collecting sap, boiling sap, and canning syrup—will be detailed.
Maple syrup production is weather dependent and runs from February through March. Volunteers will sign up for specific on-call tasks at the training. Contact KJ Kettler to register for the maple syrup production training.
