Past Dessert with Discussion Presenters 2022Portrait of Dr. Alisha A. Shah.Dr. Alisha A. Shah, assistant professor at KBS in MSU’s Department of Integrative Biology and Ecology, and Evolution and Behavior (EEB) Program will present the fall 2022 Dessert with Discussion talk “Can insects take the heat?”

Dr. Shah will share:

  • how she experimentally measures thermal tolerance in insects.
  • why some places may have greater biodiversity than others by using the temperature tolerance of insects as a clue.
  • predictions on how vulnerable insects and other animals are to climate change.

The talk will be held in person and also will be streamed via Zoom. People attending in person will also be able to take home a to-go dessert to enjoy after the talk.
