What to expect

Dessert with Discussion is a free lecture series that connects the KBS and MSU research community with our local community.

Dr. Jason Rowntree leans on a fence post in front of a pasture.

Jason Rowntree

The spring 2024 speaker is Dr. Jason Rowntree, an associate professor in the Department of Animal Science in Michigan State University’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and a C.S. Mott Professor of Sustainable Agriculture.

His talk is titled, “Good Food That is Better for the Environment.”

Beef production is often cited as a driver of climate change but, as Dr. Rowntree will discuss, it can operate in tandem with nature.

The talk will be held in person at the KBS Academic Building’s auditorium, and also will be streamed via Zoom.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. In-person participants will have the opportunity to visit informational booths, including:

  • KBS Agroecosystem Research (LTAR)
  • Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy
  • ValleyHub (Kalamazoo Valley Community College)
  • Farmacy – Sunlight Gardens
