What to expect

Dessert with Discussion is a free lecture series that connects the KBS and MSU research community with our local community.

The fall 2024 speaker is Dr. Kadeem Gilbert, an assistant professor in the departments of Plant Biology, Kellogg Biological Station, Plant Resilience Institute, and Ecology, Evolution & Behavior Program at Michigan State University.

Talk title: Extraordinary Leaves

Dr. Gilbert will share:

  • A look at special adaptations in carnivorous plant leaves
  • His research on how leaves in general shape their external environments
  • How he studies organisms that live on/inside of leaves and how they are influenced by the plant

The talk will be held in person at the KBS Academic Building’s auditorium, and also will be streamed via Zoom. 

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. In-person participants, be sure to visit these booths to learn more before or after the talk:
