This April, we’re celebrating National Poetry Month with Poetry on the Trail! Explore the beauty of nature through the written word as you stroll along our paths, where poems are placed to inspire a deeper connection with the environment around you.
Be sure to stop by The Overlook, which features a dedicated Haiku Corner, where paper, writing materials, and prompts will be available for anyone interested in crafting their poem.
Featured works include:
- Kadeem Gilbert, assistant professor of plant biology at MSU-KBS, who writes haiku inspired by moments in nature, inviting readers to notice the small wonders around them.
- Mikayla Thompson, (Cherokee Nation descendant) explores grief, love, and joy through her poetry depicting relationships between herself, her loved ones, and the natural world.
Poetry on the Trail is included with admission (free for members), regular admission for non-members and is open throughout the month of April, during normal business hours.
Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
No registration is required.
