|Streams and Rivers|
Streams near KBS have also long attracted the attention of ecologists, and nearby Augusta Creek has been the most intensively studied. This third-order stream originates in groundwater-fed lakes and passes through wetlands and woodlands along much of its course, and it supports a trout fishery.
Augusta Creek flows into the Kalamazoo River and comparative studies at several scales from the headwaters to the river were influential in the development of the River Continuum Concept. Contact Steve Hamilton for more information on local rivers and streams.
