BioBlitz 2023

On Saturday, June 17, join KBS naturalists and local scientists to explore and document the diversity of life, or “biodiversity”, of the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary during our BioBlitz event! A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. Choose a field team that piques your interest, including Bees, Birds, Butterflies, Aquatic macroinvertebrates, Trees, and more, and learn how to use iNaturalist app to record your observations and add valuable baseline data to the KBS conservation efforts.

Anyone who wants to improve their naturalist and identification knowledge and or skills; including families, community groups, and nature enthusiasts are welcome!

The basics

  • Date: Saturday, June 17, 2023
  • Times:
    • Morning session 9-11:30 a.m.
    • Lunch 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (please bring sack lunch)
    • Afternoon session 12:30 – 3:00 p.m.
    • Sign up for morning, afternoon, or both sessions!
  • Audience: All ages are welcome; bring the whole family!
  • No fee to join a BioBlitz team! All registered BioBlitz participants will receive free entry into the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary.
  • Registration is required by June 16, 2023.
