We invite all K-12 teachers and educators to join us on October 26 for a full day of professional development focused on ecological foundations and best practices for science education.
Throughout the workshop, we’ll explore meaningful ecological phenomena, learn about strategies for helping students to make sense of complex data and the implications it has for our communities. We will learn how soil biodiversity shapes food webs, discover resources to identify and create excellent environmental education resources and practice activities that bring ecological restoration to your classrooms and communities. We’ll dig into examples of how to restore healthy communities, including urban Flint, the fields of the KBS LTER and your classroom.
What to expect in-person: each day starts with a lecture from a local scientist, which is followed by three sets of interactive, experiential concurrent sessions presented by educators and scientists. We add in lunch, snacks, networking and reflective time.
What to expect online: we will be sharing the morning’s introduction and plenary talk via zoom webinar. We’ll have the chat function open so you can ask questions and interact with other virtual participants.
