The W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary will be closed beginning Friday, Dec. 24, through Tuesday, Jan. 4, for a winter break. The Sanctuary will reopen at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5.

Winter hours

Winter hours of operation are in effect until March 1, 2022. They are:

  • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Depending on staffing, admission may be self-service. Please bring cash for the honesty box.

Events in the new year

The first Birds and Coffee Chat of the new year will be Wednesday, Jan. 12, with special guest Kristy Taylor, president of the Capital Area Audubon Society. The January theme is Birds and Mindfulness.

Other early winter events include Out of Bounds Birds—a three-part, online discussion of some rare birds seen in Michigan in 2021—and a hybrid winter twig ID workshop set for Saturday, Feb. 12. More details and registration information for these events are coming in the next weeks. See you at the Sanctuary!
