About
Visit the Sanctuary on Saturday, April 22, in celebration of Earth Day! Admission is free all day (last admission at 4:30 p.m.).
There are so many ways to enjoy the gifts of nature at the Sanctuary. Take the short Paved Path or the longer Lake Loop Trail for close-up views of waterfowl including native Trumpeter Swans. Find the Sanctuary spot that’s home to its ambassador birds—Bald Eagles, Red-tailed Hawks and several owl species. Walk the Bluebird Trail, learn about the impact of restoration plantings and observe a prairie restoration project. Visit the Sanctuary gardens to see native plants in action—as well as pollinators, of course!
BioBlitz activity
While exploring nature at the Sanctuary, visitors can use the iNaturalist app to record their observations. Entries will be included in the MSU Science Festival BioBlitz.
What is a BioBlitz? It’s a community effort to identify plants and animals, helping to document the biodiversity of the Sanctuary grounds. This is a self-guided event that can be your personal, family or group challenge.
