September – November | Storybook Walks at the Sanctuary

Do some reading on the trails this autumn at the W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, with new storylines for September, October and November.

  • Time and date:
    Storybook Walks are during regular Sanctuary operating hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday
    Meet the Author event is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 16
  • Location: W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, 12685 East C Ave., Augusta MI
  • Audience: Families
  • Fee: Regular admission; $6/adults, $5/seniors and students, $4/children ages 2-17 for non-members; free for members
  • Registration: Not required

About

Pages from a storybook will be posted along the Sanctuary’s paved path for families to read as they walk. There also will be self-guided activities that complement the story’s themes.

Stories and activities are updated each month and are open to all during normal operating hours with the cost of admission (free to members).

Meet the author

Head shot portrait of author Gina Stevens.A meet-the-author event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Sanctuary with Gina Stevens, author of the September book selection, “A Tree Could Be.” There will be interactive readings of “A Tree Could Be” and another of her books, “Color Me Blue,” at 10 and 11 a.m. Children can ask questions about the writing and publishing process, and there will be a community art project for who all who wish to participate.

Stevens’ books will be available for purchase, and visitors will have an opportunity to have their books signed and dedicated. The event is free with paid general admission.

November: “How Do Birds Find Their Way,” by Roma Gans
