W.K. Kellogg Biological Station scientist Tayler Ulbrich has been named Early Career Scientist of the Year by the Long-term Agroecosystem Research—LTAR—Network for 2024. Tayler was cited for her outstanding contributions to stakeholder engagement efforts at the national level.
“The success of the network depends on contributions from site scientists,” said KBS LTAR director Phil Robertson. “Tayler has played a leading role in organizing the national stakeholder engagement effort—a well-deserved award.”

Tayler began her role as associate director of engagement with the KBS LTAR in 2023. She received her doctoral degree in 2022 from Michigan State University, where she researched how plants’ interactions with soil microbes, as well as farmers’ perceptions of soil health, can contribute to building a more resilient and sustainable agricultural system. During her Ph.D. program, she was based at KBS in the Evans Lab.

About the LTAR Network
The LTAR Network is a collection of 18 sites nationwide with more than 600 participating scientists. It represents a range of major U.S. agroecosystems, including annual row cropping systems, grazing lands, and integrated systems. A primary goal of LTAR is to develop and to share science-based findings with producers and stakeholders.
KBS established an LTAR site in 2015, and received full funding in 2020.
