About
The presenter for the spring 2025 Dessert with Discussion talk is Dr. Asia Dowtin, an assistant professor of urban and community forestry in Michigan State University’s Department of Forestry.
In her talk, Dr. Dowtin will review:
- Strategies used to assess biodiversity in urban forests
- How biodiversity varies among Michigan’s urban forests
- How biodiversity in Michigan’s urban forests impacts their contribution to stormwater reduction
The talk, titled “Linking urban tree biodiversity and local stormwater mitigation: Insights from a Michigan pilot study,” will be offered in-person in the KBS Academic Building’s auditorium, located at 3700 East Gull Lake Drive, and also will be streamed via Zoom. The talk is free and open to the public, and registration is required at bit.ly/kbs-DwD-spring2025.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and numerous area organizations will have informational booths open. Both in-person and virtual attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions following the talk. Dessert offerings will be available during the talk.
