What to expect

Dessert with Discussion is a free lecture series that connects the KBS and MSU research community with our local community.

This year’s spring 2026 speaker is Bryan L. Foster, Ph.D.

Dr. Foster is a Plant Ecologist who has used long-term experiments at field stations to explore how ecological communities respond to environmental change. In his new role as Director of the Kellogg Biological Station, he brings a strong commitment to advancing research, expanding hands-on learning, and strengthening KBS’s connections with communities across Michigan.

Discussion Topic: Research and Teaching at Field Stations

Dr. Foster will focus on:

  • Exploring global change effects on plant communities
  • Experimental prairie restoration
  • The critical importance of field stations for research and education

This event will be held in-person at the KBS Academic Building’s Auditorium, and will also be streamed via Zoom.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. where in-person attendees can connect with the following local organizations who will be exhibiting before and after the discussion:
