Due to a family emergency, Dr. Jason Rowntree will be unable to present at the spring Dessert with Discussion talk on Thursday, March 30.
This event has been canceled.
We thank you for your interest in Dessert with Discussion. We know that the planned topic was an engaging one that many of you were looking forward to learning more about. We will do our best to reschedule the event for a future date.
What to expect
Dessert with Discussion is a free lecture series that connects the KBS and MSU research community with our local community.
The spring 2023 speaker is Dr. Jason Rowntree, an associate professor in the Department of Animal Science in Michigan State University’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and a C.S. Mott Professor of Sustainable Agriculture.
His talk is titled, “Good Food That is Better for the Environment.”
Beef production is often cited as a driver of climate change but, as Dr. Rowntree will discuss, it can operate in tandem with nature.
The talk will be held in person at the KBS Academic Building’s auditorium, and also will be streamed via Zoom.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. In-person participants will have the opportunity to visit informational booths, including:
- Kalamazoo Nature Center
- Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy
- KBS-affiliated Long-term Ecological Research, Long-term Agroecosystem Research, and MiSTRIPS programs
- Sunlight Gardens
- Sprout BC
- Tillers International
