What to expect:
Slow down, look closer, and experience Michigan’s spring landscape through a fresh lens. This 90-minute guided walk invites participants to explore the living world with intention, blending scientific observation, nature journaling, and creative expression.
Led by Dr. Kadeem Gilbert, whose work bridges plant–animal–microbe interactions with poetry, music, and the arts, this experience highlights the many ways we can connect with nature. Participants will practice hands-on observation techniques, reflect through short poetic prompts, and use tools like iNaturalist to identify and document the biodiversity around them.
Designed for both newcomers and seasoned nature-lovers, this program celebrates curiosity, presence, and the richness of Michigan’s ecosystems. It affirms that the outdoors is a space where everyone belongs. Come with an open mind and a creative spirit, ready to see the landscape through a new lens and discover fresh ways to notice, interpret, and appreciate the natural world.
