Learn about Michigan’s diverse natural vegetation, emphasizing basic ecological principles of plant distribution, and influences on Michigan major vegetation types. You will also learn basic botanical taxonomy and ecology as we get a close-up look at plant parts and identify characteristics for 40-50 plants. You will also develop skills in using family features and a botanical key to identify plants.
The Field Botany course offers two-hour classes, once a week for six weeks. There will be two classroom sessions and four field sections.
