What to expect

Snowy trail at the Kellogg Bird SanctuaryArrive anytime between noon and 3 p.m. for a fun-filled afternoon that includes a tree scavenger hunt and other activities. The experience is self-guided and appropriate for people of all ages. Join us to uncover some of the mysteries of a March day in Michigan!

Discover the important role trees play in our ecosystems, identify tree species, spot wildlife, learn about birds, and more, while you complete challenges, uncover hidden clues, and put your naturalist skills to the test.

The scavenger hunt could take around 30 minutes to complete, or longer depending on how much time your group wants to spend in each area.

The March theme for activities inside the Overlook Building, which is located along the Sanctuary’s Paved Path, is “A Tree’s Life.” The Overlook hosts games, activities and crafts focused on monthly topics throughout the year.

Admission is free for Sanctuary members and the cost of regular admission for non-members: $6/adults, $5/seniors and students, $4/children ages 2-17. No registration is required for the scavenger hunt. Be sure to dress for the weather!

The Kellogg Bird Sanctuary is located at 12685 East C Ave., one mile north of M-89 and just west of 40th Street. To learn more, visit birdsanctuary.kbs.msu.edu. Direct questions to birdsanctuary@kbs.msu.edu or (269) 671-2510.
