Do you love nature themed stories?  We’ve created an experience called Storybook Walk. Each month, we will display pages from a new book for visitors to read as they explore along our accessible ¾ mile Paved Path.

Information details for Storybook Walk:

  • Book Title for May: The Magpie and the Turtle, a Native American inspired folk tale by Timothy Yeahquo (Author) and Sarah Gledhill (Illustrator)
  • Book Summary: The Magpie and The Turtle is a Kiowa tale where Magpie and Turtle, who see each other’s flaws, are tested by a deceitful snake that tries to worsen their rivalry. In the end, the story highlights the value of every creature, the impact of our choices, and the wisdom found in Native American tradition and culture.
  • Audience: Family
  • Reading Age: 4-7 years
  • Language: English

Don’t forget to stop by the Sanctuary Overlook after you finish Storybook Walk to learn more about Turtles and Science.

FREE to members, regular admission fee for non-members.

Accessible throughout the month during normal business hours.
Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
