Join scientist and KBS LTER Artist in Residence, Callie Chappell for our Sun Print Workshop on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., combing art, science, and self-reflection. Artist Callie Chappell creating a cyanotype image. Photo credit to Evan Dorsky. During this one-of-a-kind workshop, you will blend your own cultural and personal items with local plants to create custom sun prints that represent your identity.

The workshop will begin with a short walk through the Sanctuary’s blooming Pollinator Garden, where you’ll collect plant life and natural materials that represent your personal connection to nature. Using the collected, brought, and provided materials you’ll craft a personal sun art, cyanotype. You’ll leave with a piece of individual art to take home while also contributing to a community tapestry that will be featured at the KBS Bird Sanctuary.
