Manor House
Enjoy a spring walk on the shores of Gull Lake and tour the historic Manor House, which was completed in 1927 as a summer home for W.K. and his wife, Dr. Carrie Staines Kellogg. Docents will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to share details of the estate’s construction and the Kelloggs’ lives during that period. The Manor House is located at 3700 E. Gull Lake Drive, in Hickory Corners.
Note that as of April 4, the Manor House elevator is temporarily out of order. The lower level of the house remains accessible to people using wheelchairs.
Bird Sanctuary
Then, visit the nearby Bird Sanctuary to walk the beautiful trails along Wintergreen Lake and learn about the environmental challenges that moved W.K. to create the Sanctuary. The Bird Sanctuary is located at 12685 E. C Avenue, in Augusta. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 10, with free admission offered all day.
