People interested in volunteering to assist the W.K. Kellogg Experimental Forest with maple syrup production are invited to an in-person meeting from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1.
The meeting will include a short presentation about maple syrup production, a tour of the Maple Manor, Q&A, and social time with MSU Kellogg Forest staff and current volunteers. Volunteer duties —such as checking and collecting sap, boiling sap, and canning syrup—will be detailed during the presentation.
Maple syrup production is weather dependent and runs from February through March. Volunteers will sign up for specific on-call tasks. Contact KJ Kettler to register for the maple syrup production meeting.
